Taking inspiration from the route Mike Lane rode ‘week in week out’ on his way to becoming the 6 Times National Audax Champion I’ve designed a winter-friendly flat route out to the Coast and back for riders to enjoy.
Starting from Warmley Waiting Rooms Cafe which is opening early for you, ride a section of the Bristol to Bath Cycle path before a low traffic route through Bristol (views along the way of Isambard Kingdom’s Suspension Bridge) before you head back onto the National Cycle Route to the flat Clevedon Moors.
Next over to the Strawberry Line in Yatton where you will ride the cycle path till Sandford pass the Thatcher’s Cider Farm.
Head over to Uphill Wharf Near Weston for a well-earned Coffee break – Why not take your coffee down to the Beach and if you have time visit the Church on the Hill which dates back to 1080?
A short climb with great views of the Somerset Levels follows where you can take advantage of the FREE HOT DOG stand that I will have ready for you.
Then return home mostly on the same roads out.
Entry on the Line (EOL) possible – £3 surcharge, payment by card or cash.

Levelled Out
Neve been across the levels before on a bike and I saw a Kingfisher on one of the canals. Smashing route, got lost a bit, had to stop for coffee and the loo (poo!), got lost some more at Ashton Gate, had a hotdog and a chat on Bleadon Hill and good back too late to qualify. My fault and I would love to come back and do it again
Lovey and Flat….
What a great event, Flat..starts at a cafe with cafes in the middle and ends at a cafe…😁🌭☕️🍪🍰.
Extremely well organised event and a great team of people.
Great day out
Thanks for your inspiration from Mike Lane! I had such a good day and reconnected with my Audax spirit ( after an absence of 2 years). The view from the top of Bleadon Hill is spectacular. The pop up Hot Dog tent up there was a fab stop mid route and the hot dogs – perfect! Traffic in Banwell was pretty jammed up even on the back road, other than that no problem. All info provided was clear and helpful, particularly where food/ refreshment could be purchased if needed ( a Snickers and a bottle of water at Backwell Spar)..plus where riders needed to be on our toes for hazards! Great day out.
Audax Newbie Gives 👍👍👍
A very enjoyable day, well organised, fun, & starting and finishing from a well-chosen and well-equipped start point in Warmley. Downloading and using the route file, and finding the checkpoints both on the ground and in the E-Brevet app was a breeze. Huge thanks to all who gave their time to organise the ride. I hope to do many more audaxes.
Thank you to the organiser
Once again a fantastic organised event by Ollie supported by his family. Great route and free hot dogs 🌭. What more could you wish for. Thanks for all your hard work you put in Ollie 🚲
Thank you for organising the ride on Saturday. It was a great route and great to do some different roads and lanes that we hadn’t ridden before. Great views.
